Carry out Pay Equity Navigator and analysis of equivalent works – HRM Pay Equity Compass

This article will guide you through the process of using Pay Equity Navigator to analyse equivalent works. We take a closer look at how Flex HRM can help you identify pay differences and how you document your conclusions to ensure your organisation has equal pay policies.

How do you analyse pay for equivalent work?

In this view, we compare groups of jobs with different content, but which, according to your work evaluation, have received the same (or nearly the same) score. This is where you ensure, for example, that a female-dominated occupational group does not have lower wages than a male-dominated group, even though the job requirements are equally high.

Here's how to do it, step by step

You can find the analysis under Pay Equity Compass > Pay Equity Navigator select Equivalent work.

  1. Select Job profile: The list shows the female-dominated jobs that fall within the same score range as other non-female-dominated groups. Click on a job to see which profiles are included in the analysis.

  2. Key performance indicators for the groups: Here you see a total of the average salaries for women and men within the entire group.

  3. Individual KPIs: Below the summary, you see the specific job profiles.

  4. Compare works and make your assessment: Here you can compare the female-dominated job against any job within the group. Click on the work you wish to compare with.

Below you can see how the work Operations Engineer (female-dominated job) is compared with System Coordinator (male-dominated job).

If you discover a pay gap between equivalent works, you need to analyse whether it is objective. Click down to the individuals in the list for the work to conduct your analysis of the salaries, and click on Notes to record your analysis for the current employee.

Confirm your analysis and save your note by clicking Add note.

What does equivalent work mean in practice?

When we talk about equivalent work, we mean that the requirements for employees are at the same level when we take into account factors such as:

  • Knowledge and skills.

  • Responsibility.

  • Effort.

  • Working conditions.

Which jobs are considered equivalent in your particular organisation is determined by the settings you have made in Flex HRM and the work evaluation established in the preparatory steps.
